From ANE June 2011 Newsletter: I am so delighted to introduce myself to the community. My name is Yatibaey Evans. I am the daughter of Donna Galbreath and Jeffery Mann and the granddaughter of Molly and Donald Galbreath. I was born in Fairbanks, and grew up there the majority of my life. However, my family and I are from the village of Mentasta. After graduating from West Valley I attended the University of Oregon. This was the stepping stone of my higher education. I now have an Associates from Pierce College, a Bachelors from University of Washington, and a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University. I am so thankful to have a wonderful husband, and three incredible sons that have supported me along my journey. While in the Lower 48, one of the most amazing things I’ve been able to do is share my Ahtna culture with hundreds of children, broadening their knowledge of Alaskan Natives and American Indians It is such an honor to now be the Alaskan Native Education Coordinator. I plan to do my best to serve our community with excellence and integrity.
