Fairbanks North Star School District (FNSBSD) has three Native Youth Olympics teams representing Lathrop, Effie Kokrine, and Randy Smith Middle School. It is wonderful to see non-native and native students learning the traditional hunting, strength, and endurance skills that the Alaska Native people have been utilizing for thousands of years. Not only are the athletes conditioning their bodies, but they are also preparing their minds and learning about the incredible culture that we are immersed in by living in Alaska. Top competitors will be traveling to the statewide competition in Anchorage in April. The teams are currently in the process of raising funds for their team banners, jerseys, and some travel costs. It would be fantastic if you could come and show your support for the athletes at their Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser coming up this Saturday from 5-7pm at Effie Kokrine Charter School. They will be demonstrating the traditional skills at 6pm. Please pass the word along.

Additionally, tonight FNSBSD (ANE) Alaska Native Education is hosting the Grant Review and Potluck at Denali Elementary from 5:30-7:30pm. Come enjoy delicious food, watch the performance, and participate in the future of ANE.
