Doyon Foundation is pleased to spotlight one of our newest donors: Jonathan and Sarah Glass, of Portland, Oregon. The Glass family recently made a generous $10,000 contribution to Doyon Foundation to establish a brand new scholarship fund.

Maya Anderson, first recipient

The first scholarship was presented to Maiya Anderson of Kenai in fall 2021. Maiya is studying pre-communications at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and plans to apply to her school’s communications program once she completes her prerequisites.

“I am incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship, as I am completely self-reliant for my tuition and cost of living,” shared Maiya. “I recently got engaged to a wonderful young man … we have been concerned about our finances because we are both in school and unable to work full-time. Receiving this scholarship has been such an amazing blessing to both of our lives.”

Jonathan Glass is an investment manager who holds an MBA from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from McGill University. His company, Council Tree Investors, has had a business relationship with Doyon, Limited for more than 20 years. He first became aware of Doyon Foundation as corporate sponsor of our annual Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic, which raises funds for the Morris Thompson competitive scholarship fund.

“Doyon Foundation has been very successful in supporting educational opportunities for Doyon shareholders,” Glass said. “Supporting Doyon Foundation is an opportunity to support educational opportunities for Doyon’s shareholders and their families.”

“It’s also in appreciation of my longstanding business relationship with Doyon, Limited, which has given me an opportunity to meet several scholarship recipients that are now working at Doyon in leadership roles,” Glass continued.

On behalf of all of our students, we say “thank you” to Jonathan and Sarah Glass for their generous support of Doyon Foundation scholarships!
