Joseph DeWilde, of North Pole, Alaska, is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and dreaming about his future – which could include pursuing his master’s degree. For now, though, he’s focused on his current academic goal, which he’s receiving support for from the Doyon Foundation.

“The Doyon scholarship has helped me tremendously as it is paying for a third of my college fees. Without it, I would probably have to take out a student loan, so I am grateful for the scholarship,” said the 2008 – 2009 Doyon Foundation scholarship recipient.

The investment Doyon Foundation and its donors are making in Joseph promise long-range benefits in the future.

“When I have a degree and a good job in the future, I won’t forget the help that I got in college and I would like to give back to my financial sources so other young people can go to college,” DeWilde said.
