We are excited to share that Doyon Foundation has been awarded $42,600 through the 2026 Alaska Native Program Scholarship Initiative from Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.

This generous investment supports educational pathways for Alaska Native students and helps students pursue their academic and career goals without the added burden of student loans.

This award directly supports our Alyeska Competitive Scholarship and workforce development initiatives, helping create opportunities for students to build meaningful careers and contribute to their communities.

We are especially grateful to Carrie Irwin, who has provided long-standing leadership for Alyeska’s Alaska Native Program and its commitment to supporting Alaska Native students. We appreciate the continued investment Alyeska and their board of directors make in education and opportunities across Alaska.

One student who exemplifies the impact of this support is Sean Gallen, a first-year student and competitive scholarship recipient pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Sean began his college journey through UAA’s dual-enrollment program and started college with 31 credits completed.

For Sean, this scholarship means more than helping with tuition. After his mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, being able to attend college close to home has allowed him to continue his education while also being there for his family.

“I am very appreciative of this scholarship as it allows me to focus on my schoolwork and other avenues in my life, without having to pull out student loans or worry about paying tuition to continue pursuing this dream of mine,” said Sean.

Alyeska’s generosity allows Doyon Foundation to continue to support students like Sean, as they work toward their educational and career goals.
