Reno, Nevada

Benjamin Schwartz is the son of Polly Hyslop, of Northway and Tanana, and Daniel Schwartz, of Palo Alto, California. He spent his childhood in Tanana and Northway, as well as Palo Alto, California, and currently resides in Reno, Nevada.

After more than five years as a public accountant at Bluebird CPAs, a leading tribal accounting firm, where he worked with tribal governments and their for-profit enterprises nationwide, Benjamin joined Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in 2025 as Financial Controller, overseeing the accounting function amid a major expansion.

A former Doyon Foundation scholarship recipient, Benjamin received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and communication arts from Linfield College, where he was also a NCAA collegiate basketball player, and speech and debate competitor. He obtained his executive master’s in business administration from the University of Nevada Reno in 2021 and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2023.

“Doyon Foundation was not only a financial tool for graduate school but also a great resource for motivation, in that I could use the skills I acquire to assist in the mission of the Foundation,” he said.

In his spare time, Benjamin enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and hiking with his girlfriend and dogs.
