The 24th Annual Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic kicked off on June 19, 2025, with a Skills Tournament and Calcutta Reception. Held at Chena Bend Golf Course, the skills tournament highlighted the talent and competitive spirit of our players. That evening, guests gathered at the Westmark Hotel for the Calcutta Reception, featuring live and silent auctions, live music, dinner, drinks, and plenty of excitement. This was the first time that we have opened the Calcutta Reception to the public and it was a great success, raising nearly $86,000 to support student scholarships.
The main event, an 18-hole scramble, took place on June 20, 2025, at Chena Bend Golf Course, where 30 teams competed for prize money and the chance to win back their Calcutta bets.

The Golf Classic was established in honor of the late Morris Thompson, who served as President and CEO of Doyon, Limited from 1985 until his passing in 2000. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Morris Thompson competitive scholarships, awarded to Doyon shareholders pursuing higher education who embody Morris’ legacy of vision, excellence, leadership, and integrity.
In 2024, Doyon Foundation awarded more than $2 million in total scholarship funding, including $26,250 through the Morris Thompson competitive scholarships. With continued support from generous sponsors, we anticipate sustaining this funding level for 2025 and beyond.
