Fairbanks, Alaska – July 23, 2025 – Doyon Foundation Executive Director Mariah Pitka joined the nationally broadcast radio program Native America Calling on Wednesday, July 23, to discuss the Foundation’s ongoing Native language revitalization efforts.
The one-hour live call-in show focused on innovative approaches to preserving Indigenous languages through apps, games, and classroom tools. Pitka shared insights into the Foundation’s language revitalization program, including a preview of a new Denaakk’e learning game currently in development.
“Language is at the heart of identity and culture,” Pitka said during the show. “We’re excited to be using technology and creative methods to help connect people to their heritage and keep our Native languages thriving.”
Native America Calling is broadcast on more than 90 stations across the U.S. and explores topics relevant to Indigenous communities.
