WWAMI is the acronym for Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. These states formed a consortium and developed a medical school. The main medical school is located in Washington State. WWAMI is Alaska’s medical school and is located on the University of Alaska, Anchorage campus where students can, if they choose, complete three of their four years towards a medical degree.

Each year the WWAMI program conducts medical and bioresearch summer institutes for motivated high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented ethnic minorities and underserved student groups. The WWAMI Program also has opportunities for undergraduates. It is a WWAMI goal that primary recruitment is from rural Alaskan communities.
