The US Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid, Student Aid Awareness and Applicant Services Channel is seeking Graduate (Master’s Degree) or Master Degree Candidates nearing the completion of their Graduate program for a position as Awareness and Outreach Specialist in the Federal Career Intern Program (FCIP). This is a developmental position intended to provide specialized experience leading to a higher grade position as an Outreach Awareness Specialist.
The incumbent receives classroom and on-the-job training in principles relating to public speaking, public relations, marketing and communications. The incumbent will be trained as a spokesperson for Federal Student Aid, Student Aid Awareness and Applicant Services Channel and will participate in planning, coordinating, and sustaining joint outreach and awareness efforts with Federal, state, and local governments; non-profit agencies; and the private sector. Outreach efforts are intended to disseminate information about financial aid that is available to students of post-secondary educational institutions under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
Seeking graduate student or recent graduate students. This position is located in Washington, D.C. Relocation expenses will not be paid. Travel Requirement: Must be able to travel two weeks out of each month, particularly from September-January, then February-May. This position is expected to start in February 2010.
