Interior – Aleutians Campus is continuing the Troth Yeddha’ Nutrition Project, an exciting new course of study to serve rural Alaskan communities in the area of nutrition, food systems and health. We are recruiting students for the two-semester, 12-credit cohort beginning September, 2010.
· Interdisciplinary courses blend Nutrition Science, Alaska Native Knowledge, Behavioral Health, and Outreach Skills. · Teaching teams include licensed professionals, Alaska Native service providers, Alaska Native Elders and guest speakers. · Courses taught in a blended delivery style allowing students to learn, earn university credits, and not have to move from their home community. · Students attend an Intensive week in Fairbanks early in the semester, audio conferences during the semester and a 2.5-day Intensive at the end of the semester. · Students may use credits toward Occupational Endorsement (in development), area of concentration in Tribal Management, additional Certificate and Degree programs or as professional development. · Courses offered are: Nutrition Science for the Generations, Alaska Native Food Systems, Community Nutrition Interventions, Intro to Rural Nutrition Counseling, and Rural Nutrition PracticumFinancial aid for travel, tuition, fees, materials and books, is available to eligible students.
