The Tanana Chiefs Conference Cultural Program will hold three workshops this month and next on traditional techniques of Caribou Hair Tufting, beadwork, and porcupine quill work. The workshops will take place at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center on November 20-21, 2010, 8am-5pm, November 27-28, 2010, 8am-5pm and December 4-5, 2010, 8am-5pm.

According to TCC Cultural Program Director Dixie Alexander, each class will allow participants to work on different items such as moose skin bags, sewing bags, coin purses, and sun catchers. Participants may also take their own sewing items that they need help making.

There is a $150.00 materials fee per class. Class space is limited. The materials list includes moose skin, deer skin, glass seed beads, felt, yarn, quills, dyed caribou hair, rings, faceted beads, crow beads, feathers, dentallium shells, needles, thread, and sinew.
