The Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) was created in 2010 as an invitation to excellence, extended to Alaska students, parents, and educators.

As part of that invitation to excellence, the APS aims to improve high school performance and better prepare Alaskans for postsecondary education and career success.

Subject to funds appropriation, first awards will be made available to the high school class of 2011. The APS can be used for up to 8 semesters (4 years) at any regionally accredited college or university in Alaska, or for approved career and technical education programs in the state. Even if you begin your studies out of state, you have up to six years after high school graduation to use the award to finish your education at a qualifying Alaska institution.
