Youth Employment in Parks: Now hiring teens for 2011!mya.jpgThis summer, once again the Anchorage Park Foundation will partner with the Parks and Recreation Department, to hire Anchorage youth to offer recreation programs and complete natural resource improvements in Anchorage parks.Position postings should be accepting applications in late February. There will be a closing date on the position posting online so be sure and check when the application needs to be submitted by.

The YEP program anticipates the employment up to 35 diverse Anchorage youth, ages 16-19, as Youth Crew Members, Sr. Crew Members, Crew Leaders (ages 18+) and Field Educators (ages 21+) during the summer of 2011. The Municipality of Anchorage Parks & Recreation Department seeks youth to fill these positions who want to make a difference in their community, get a first job experience, gain environmental education, get outdoors, and make new friends.

Youth Crew Members will be responsible for the completion of weekly activities assigned to them under the supervision of their Crew Leaders, and Sr. Crew Members. Youth Crew Members may have the option of either working on park improvement projects or helping lead recreation programs. It is the responsibility of the Youth Crew Member to get to work on time, be fully prepared for the day’s activities, and be motivated.
