I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Melissa Willis and I am one of the project leads on the US Department of Education Alaska Native Adult Education Grant Program at Northern Industrial Training. I look forward to working with you and your shareholders in the upcoming months.

At this time we are recruiting for the ­­­­­­­­­­­Welding Training beginning on September 12 – November 4, 2011. I have attached the application to this email for your reference and so that it can be forwarded to any interested parties. The deadline for the application is fast approaching, on Wednesday, September 07, 2011.

The course will focus on the specific tools, functions, and techniques the welding trade. Hands on training will cover 3G and 4G welding types. All students will have the opportunity to test for their welding certifications.

Prerequisites for the training:

DOT or Fitness Physical is required (not grant sponsored)

FMCSA/DOT Drug Test is required (not grant sponsored)

HS Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required. If working on GED – please indicate on

application and include the estimated completion date for the GED.

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have a photo identification card (Alaska Driver’s License or State issued Photo ID Card)

Must have a BIA or CIB card (proof of Alaska Native Blood)

The grant covers tuition, fees, daily transportation, and PPE. There are limited funds available for room and board. Participants are responsible for any airfare costs.
