Alaska Learning Labs Tutor (Fairbanks)
Alaska Learning Labs, a program of SERRC, is an academic after-school program that works because it’s fun!
They are looking for a Local Service Provider (LSP) to facilitate this dynamic program on a regular basis. Interactive and student-directed program components are provided, along with snacks and prizes for participating students.
• There is very little lesson planning required on the part of the LSP–easy-to-manage resources are provided for you!
• You will be working with a group of 10-15 students, ranging either from k — 2, 3 — 6th grade. We are seeking those who have experience working with this age group and group size in an instructional setting.
• Certified teachers are preferred for this position, but non-certified applicants will be considered. A background check is required for non-certified applicants.

Time:
• Up to 4 days per week
• Up to 2 hours per day
• Each session begins immediately after school
• Approximate 3 month commitment, Sept. 27th through Nov. and again in the spring semester.
• Specific dates and times will vary, as they will be coordinated with each school’s administration to fit the needs of the school.
Location: On-site at one of two possible Fairbanks elementary schools. Please contact us for more specific location information.
Duties:
• Supervise and assist students with self-directed online tutorials in language arts and math
• Facilitate hands-on math and literacy activities at a variety of instructional levels
• Assist students with ordering prizes online, using their earned points
• Gather necessary information and enroll new students in program
• Set learning goals for each student and monitor progress
• Maintain attendance and progress records for up to 10 students on a daily basis
• Communicate regularly with parents, school staff, and Alaska Learning Labs staff
• Coordinate and implement parent involvement event
• Participate in scheduled trainings
