Event Title: 2013 Fatherhood Summit: Supporting Alaska Native Fathers To Strengthen Your Community

This one-day event, will bring community partners together with Tribal and Federal programs to provide ideas, resources and tools to encourage proactive/positive fathering for Native communities with a focus on community-based engagement and traditional wisdom.

Existing Fatherhood programs will provide models, resources and tools that will help other interested providers and agencies to implement Fatherhood programs. Participants will learn about effective traditional and culturally appropriate responses to promote positive Native male role models.

Intended Audience: AK Health Summit Attendees, Tribal Wellness programs, TANF, Child Support Services, Childcare /Head Start, Child Welfare and other Tribal organizations, providers and agencies that serve Alaska Native families, which are interested in initiating or expanding Fatherhood Initiatives.

The 2013 Fatherhood Summit is coordinated by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). The ACF Region 10 Office is working with the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) AK Training and Technical Assistance Center, operated by 3Star, to put on the event.
