Audubon’s Wings internship program invites students and recent graduates to help shape a healthy environment and vibrant future for birds – and all of us who share the planet with them.
Through its Public Policy Office, Audubon is a dynamic, well-respected leader in environmental advocacy. This unpaid internship provides the interns with exposure to Audubon’s highly skilled lobbyists, policy advocates, and grassroots team. Interns develop a range of skills that prepares them for a successful career, while gaining hands on, real world experience in conservation policy, outreach, legislative analysis, and an inside look at public policy formulation at the federal and state levels.
Interns will be exposed to one of the conservation community’s most extensive grassroots programs, and a network of federal and state agencies, as it applies to major issues covered by Audubon New Mexico’s freshwater portfolio. Although the internship is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, activities associated with federal policy and legislation will be coordinated with Audubon’s Public Policy Office in Washington, D.C.
Other major issues that interns are exposed to include emerging environmental water law and policy in the state of New Mexico, the laws and regulations governing surface water rights and administration, and the concerns and interests of different water sectors in the state of New Mexico vis-à-vis environmental water needs of the state’s river basins.
This is a 10 week unpaid internship program that starts on June 4, 2013 and ends on August 10, 2013 and is located at the Randall Davey Audubon Center and Wildlife Sanctuary in Santa Fe, New Mexico or in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
