The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education, service and patriotism. The DAR provides thousands of scholarships each year to undergraduate and graduate students.
The DAR American Indian Scholarship is a one-time, $4,000 scholarship awarded to help American Indian undergraduate and graduate students achieve an education. Undergraduate students are given preference and all awards are judged based on financial need and academic achievement. Applicants must have a financial need and a grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Application Requirements
All applicants must be citizens of the United States and must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States. DAR chapter sponsorship or affiliation is not required. You must include the following with your application in one mailing:
- Letter giving family history, financial status, and education objectives;
- Offical copy of last semester transcript, or last transcript obtained and sent by previous school;
- Three letters of recommendation from persons such as teachers, clergy, or others who have personally known the applicant for a minimum of two years; and
- Poof of American Indian blood.
