UAF announces three exciting scholarship opportunities for students seeking a pre-nursing or nursing degree through a UAF campus.

The Betty Ross Mattson Scholarship, A. Doris Southall Nursing Scholarship, and the Esther Louise Largen Nursing Scholarship, provide funds for students enrolled in a pre-nursing or nursing degree program through a UAF campus.

Qualifications for these awards vary, but all applicants should demonstrate academic potential, motivation, and leadership, be in good academic standing, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Additionally, some scholarships have other criteria.  The Betty Ross Mattson Scholarship requires Alaska residency.  It is awarded with a preference for students with demonstrated financial need and those who graduated from a Fairbanks area high school.  The Doris A. Southall Nursing Scholarship is for full-time students in the second year of the nursing program.  The Esther Louise Largen Nursing Scholarship is available for students who have applied to or are in the nursing program and for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) students who intend to continue in the nursing program.  It is awarded with a preference for students who intend to stay in Alaska after graduation, and for those who show the greatest financial need.

A recipient will forfeit any scholarship if he/she does not enroll in the semester in which the award is to be in effect, is placed on academic probation, or no longer meets the qualifications for the award.

To apply, submit the 2015/2016 UAF nursing scholarships online application available at: tinyurl.com/1516UAFnursing

The deadline is 5 P.M. Friday, September 4th.
