Southwest Tribal NARCH Summer Internship Program, Deadline: April 22, 2016 (5pm MDT)

The Southwest Tribal Native American Research Center for Health (NARCH) Program will sponsor a 2016 Summer Research Internship Program. Through this program we provide opportunities to engage American Indian students in significant and innovative health research and further explore careers in health sciences, public health, epidemiology or medicine.

Students wishing to apply to the internship program must meet specific criteria. They must be:

·       enrolled in a Federally-recognized tribe;

·       enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in a health-related degree program at an accredited academic institution; and

·       in good academic standing according to their department guidelines.

Interested students must complete and submit an application packet which includes proof of tribal enrollment, copies of the most recent transcript and class schedule, a resume, and a 250-word statement of interest.

This is an 8-week paid internship. The NARCH program will work with students to determine their summer work schedule in the May-September 2016 internship period. There are only a few slots available each year, so selection is based on meeting the eligibility criteria, student’s academic record, and statement of interest. Preference is given to students who are members of tribes in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.
