The Doyon Foundation journey doesn’t end with graduation! We are so proud of our alumni, the amazing places they have gone on to, the achievements they are making, and the positive differences they are having in their communities. Each month, we feature an update on one of our alumni. This month, we are pleased to highlight Diane Evans-Sommer.
Where are you from?
Galena, Alaska
What is your educational background?
Diane graduated with her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2003.
What are you doing now?
She has worked as a health services budget and grants manager at Tanana Chiefs Conference for the past 20 years. Her role there has grown and evolved through the years.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Diane has three grown children and has always encouraged them to pursue their goals. She advocates young adults to work hard and find what makes them happy, whether it be attending college, trade school, or working at a job they enjoy! She feels she is always learning new ideas and wishes the same for others.
She truly thanks Doyon Foundation and other Native organizations for their support when she attended college. This helped her to finalize her education and she is so grateful for that.
