Tectonic Metals, Inc. joined the Doyon Foundation family of donors in 2018, supporting our students with a generous financial contribution each year. The funds they donate are directed to our Level Up scholarship for non-degree-seeking students, as well as our natural resources competitive award.

Level Up scholarships supported by Tectonic Metals are available for non-degree-seeking students in a wide range of fields related to the resource development industry, including mining, exploration, culinary arts, maintenance and more. To qualify for the Level Up scholarship, students must be in non-degree-seeking programs that are less than one year or 120 hours. Level Up scholarship applications are accepted year-round and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Degree-seeking students studying engineering, political science, geology and mining are also encouraged to apply for a natural resources competitive award, funded by Tectonic Metals. The deadline to apply for competitive awards is May 15 for the coming academic year. The next competitive award application period will open in spring 2023.

“Alaska’s resource development has become a very large and important industry, and we’ve seen an increase in students pursuing an education in this area,” said Alicia Kangas, Doyon Foundation scholarship coordinator. “The support of Tectonic Metals has allowed us to provide both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students with scholarships in this field of study. We are very grateful for their partnership.”
