The American Indian Education Foundation (AIEF) is one of the United States’ largest grantors of scholarships to Native Americans, nearly $450,000 to about 225 students each year. Of these recipients, nearly half are the first in their family to attend college.
The Undergraduate Scholarship provides $2,000 to students of Native American or Alaska Native descent attending 2 or 4 year college/university or technical/vocational schools. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student and it is recommended that students hold between a 2.0 and 3.4 GPA.
The Graduate Scholarship provides funding based on the number of credits the applicant is enrolled in. Qualified applicants must be of Native American, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian descent and attending an accredited graduate school. Applicants must be enrolled in 6-18 credit hours and it is recommended that students hold a 2.5 and 3.5 GPA.

Selection Criteria
The Selection Committee, looks beyond GPA and standardized test scores when choosing scholarship recipients. They seek out students who exhibit passion, resiliency, and leadership. They welcome applicants with solid performance and realistic goals, especially if they have overcome substantial obstacles or are nontraditional students.
