The PreMed Summit is designed to provide information to anyone wanting to learn more about the process of becoming a physician. It is especially helpful for undergraduate and high school students, but non-traditional students, high school counselors, college advisors, and parents are also welcome to attend.
The fifth annual Alaska PreMed Summit will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at UAA. Students and parents throughout the state will also able to take part in the Summit by attending the videoconference Summits at UAF, UAS, and Kodiak.
Participants of the 2010 Alaska PreMed Summit will receive the opportunity to:
- Find out about volunteer opportunities for pre-medical students.
- Hear premedical undergraduates, current medical students, medical school graduates in residency training, and practicing physicians describe their experiences. This panel discussion was once again the highlight of the day for many participants.
- Learn how to apply to US medical schools, including WWAMI – Alaska’s Medical School.
- Participate in a mock medical school interview.
- Tour the Alaska WWAMI Program first-year medical student facilities.
