The 2010 Summer Health Academy held in Galena, Alaska is currently accepting applications and the deadline is fast approaching! This is an opportunity for rural Alaskan high school students in 10th – 12th grade to learn how to provide vital round-the-clock emergency services to your community! The students will earn five UAF college credits, an Emergency Training Trauma card and certificate at the 2010 Summer Health Academy held in Galena, Alaska from May 30 – June 18.

During this academy, high school students will train with the Aniak Dragonslayers learning how fires burn and quickly spread, as well as learning how to perform rescues from land, water, and ice. Most importantly, students will have an opportunity to grow leadership skills, improve self-esteem, and find a sense of purpose by learning skills valuable to his or her community.
