Megan Hosken, of Fairbanks, Alaska, is a University of Alaska Fairbanks student and an aspiring elementary school teacher who hopes to live and teach right here in Alaska after she graduates. It’s a goal that Doyon Foundation is pleased to support.

“The Foundation provided seed money for me to enroll in college and reside on the campus while attending school. It has also enabled me to pay my own fees and expenses without going deeply in debt. I still work at a regular job, but this scholarship has significantly reduced the stress of meeting my financial obligations while enrolled in school,” said the 2008 – 2009 Doyon Foundation scholarship recipient.

The scholarship does more than just offer financial assistance. For Hosken, it also offers encouragement to excel in school – and beyond.

“With this scholarship comes a responsibility to dedicate myself to succeeding in school and in the future to pay back my Native community through the knowledge and skills that I will obtain,” she said.
