Doyon Foundation announces the addition of Tonya Garnett as Scholarship Program Manager.
Prior to joining Doyon Foundation in September, Garnett worked at Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) for more than 6 years in various departments including employment and education. Garnett most recently held the position of self-governance coordinator at TCC. Garnett’s experience also includes serving as tribal administrator at Arctic Village as well as holding the position of rural mentoring coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is also currently working towards obtaining a master’s degree in rural development through the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Garnett is the daughter of Jerry and Lillian Garnett of Arctic Village. Her grandparents are the late Ezias and Martha James of Arctic Village. She and her companion, Bruce, are proud parents of their 1-year-old son, Ashton. Garnett enjoys spending time with her family and when she is not shopping or traveling she can be found participating in her favorite activity; fishing.
