Doyon Foundation, in partnership with Tanana Chiefs Conference and University of Alaska Fairbanks Rural Student Services, hosted our first virtual education fair for middle and high school students on April 13. Students from schools across the Doyon region joined for speakers, Q&A, breakout sessions and prizes.

This fun event helped students explore careers they are interested in and what it takes to get there. Students:

o Heard from community leaders, current students and Doyon Foundation alumni who are doing amazing things in their communities.
o Learned about the kinds and types of jobs available in the Doyon region, how much students can earn, and training and education requirements.
o Found out what programs and trainings are offered, how much getting an education costs, and the kinds of scholarships that are available to students.
o Got questions answered.

The education fair also included breakout sessions on:

o Applying for scholarships
o Creating a resume
o Interview tips
o Applying to college
o And more!

Doyon Foundation plans to begin hosting education fairs quarterly. Keep an eye on our website, newsletter or social media for details on upcoming events.
