Doyon Foundation is actively working on revitalizing the Native languages of the Interior region through our language revitalization program. As part of those efforts, we invite all Doyon shareholders, descendants and/or tribal members to complete our 2024 Interior Alaska Language Revitalization Interest Survey. The survey deadline has been extended to Friday, June 14.

The survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. To thank you for your time, at the end of the survey, you will be able to enter your name in a drawing for one of three $100 or six $50 Amazon gift cards.

This survey is a follow-up to our 2020 benchmark survey and includes many of the same questions to help us understand the current state of our Native languages, including how many people speak and/or understand their language.

We will use the survey results to create more opportunities for people to learn and share their language, and spread awareness of our efforts to revitalize our Native languages.

Survey accessibility is a priority, as it is important for us to hear from as many different people as possible. In addition to the online survey, we are sending paper copies to tribal offices for those who do not use computers or have internet access. To request a paper copy of the survey, please contact your local tribal office or Doyon Foundation.

We also strongly encourage people to help their Elders complete the survey so that their valuable knowledge and perspectives are represented.

Thank you in advance for sharing about your knowledge and ability to use your Native language, your opinions about language revitalization, and your thoughts on language revitalization strategies.

For more information, or to request a paper copy of the survey, please contact Lucy Miller, Doyon Foundation program manager, at 907-459-2015, 1-888-478-4755 or [email protected].
